I provide advice on the alteration or repair of listed and other historic buildings, including buildings in conservation areas, usually in the form of a heritage statement. These statements fulfil the requirements of a planning or listed building consent application, which are produced in accordance with the relevant legislation, including the National Planning Policy Framework (for England) and Planning Policy Wales (for Wales), in line with guidance issued by Historic England and Cadw respectively.

Other forms of advice I provide are urban characterisation studies, Conservation Management Plans and Statements of Significance to inform future management of historic buildings and places. I can undertake building recording to Historic England Levels 1-4, encompassing research, report writing, photography, and checking of architect’s survey drawings.

Over the past 25 years I have worked for a variety of clients, including Cadw, The National Trust, RCAHM Wales, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Powys County Council, Torfaen County Borough Council, Eryri National Park Authority and the Princes Regeneration Trust, as well as numerous home owners, business owners, planning consultants and property developers.
